future goals

wow. so the seniors are gone today. for good. its been an out of sync day.

so anyways. future goals.

Next year i want to be the the best that i can be. In the fall i have high hopes of our softball team making it to state for the first time since 2004. Its been our dream for years and i hope that we can finally make it come true.

I also hope to be able to choose a college and a major by the winter of next year. I am now in the process of looking, and i still have no idea where or what i want to do. Ill figure it out tho.

Keeping up my 4.0 would also be wonderful next year.

In the spring my doubs partner and I hope to get even better at our tennis game. I dont think im being unrealistic when i say that our goal is to take the #1 doubles state title.

I would love to get a full ride to college. Itll take a lot of work and scholarship applications, but anything is possible.

I'm excited for senior year

auf wiedersehen

when i was in fourth grade i had a best friend. her name was Megan Zastopil. We were great friends. we would play tennis and go to memorial pool and eat pizza and play backyard soccer together. She was my favorite person in the whole wide world. Unfortunately her daddy worked for Hormel. The summer after fourth grade Megan and her family were transfered up to Austin, MN. I was devestated. One day she was here and the next day she was just gone. I couldnt believe that the world could be so cruel. Although we still keep in contact to this day, its not the same. We will never go to dress shopping for prom together, or play on the same tennis team. Its a bit of a bummer. But life goes on. New friends are made. But the memories will always stick with you.

the all nighter

so this weekend i participated in the fly marathon. Basically it is just a bunch of kids at our church that beg people for money and stay up all night long. this years them was a bike a thon. technically kids are sposed to get pledges for miles they ride on their bikes. i was a failure and did not beg people for money, but i rode my bike 15 miles anyways. following the bike ride from hell, (well it was a bit too cold to call it that. Maybe if hell froze over, it would be a better comparison) we ate our weight in junk food and hung out all night. The fact that i didnt go to bed until 620 was a slight problem, especially when wake up call was 645. With the help of 5 cups of coffee and 15 other exhausted teens, i was able to make it thru the early morning church service. the only downfall was that while majority of the other kids were able to sleep the day away, i had to go to a softball scrimage and practice. It all worked out though because the moment i got home i went to bed to make up for the crazy night.

if a fire consumed my house...

I would want to be able to grab my entire house and take it out of the fire. But since that is physically impossible, there are a few things i would get on my way out.

1. my dog, Lucky- she's probably my favorite pet. She's fat and happy and cuddly. What's not to love about her?
2. my brother, Weston- his bedroom is on the 2nd floor with me, so i would probably have to make sure that he got out of the house alive. That would basically be my responsibility. But I really would miss him if he didn't get out. He's a pretty awesome kid. Even tho he can be an annoying middle schooler.
3. my purse- I never go anywhere without it. So obviously i would take it. I have my check card, camera, phone, camelback, ipod, food, advil, daily planner and anything else i could ever need. Without it i would be completely lost.
4. my book- currently i am reading the book The Thornbirds. it is a very good read and i recommend it to all girls. plus i got it from the library and i don't want to be charged a fine for a charred book. It would also give me something to do during the downtime of watching my house burn to the ground. It would probably be better to focus on something else.
5. toothbrush- i am a freak about having clean teeth. in my purse i have toothpaste, so anytime that my breath was not pleasant or my teeth felt a tad grimy, i could take care of it. otherwise i would go insane.

stab in the heart

Back in grade school, children were cruel.

During my Lincoln lion years, i had a clique of friends. These said friends were never very nice to me. We created a "club" where we would sit around and make crafts or sercret handshakes or what not. Looking back at it now, it sounds completely pointless, but at the time it was a big deal to be "accepted in."

Unfortunately for me, i was not a permenent member of the club. Most of the members were neighbors and considered themselves to be BFFs. I was on the outside of the box looking in most of the time. It really sucked to not be included in the jokes that they would talk about at school the next week.

From that experience i learned that people should try their best to include others in their fun. No one likes to feel left out.

the cool days of lincoln school

back in the days when recess was still in session, my elementary school friends and i would run rampid across the playground. One cold day in fourth grade, one of my friends, jenna guenther, decided that it would be funny to stick her tongue to a pole. the results were distaterous. What started out as an innocent joke turned terribly painful in a matter of seconds. Jenna ended up with the entire surface of her tongue adhered to the flag pole. All of the bystanders began to laugh at her because it was a very hilarious situation. You just dont see someone with their tongue stuck to a pole every day. Jenna started out laughing because she had quite the audience watching her and she had acheieved her goal. After a little while Jenna began to worry since her tongue would not budge. The recess teacher noticed the group of kids and came over to us. When she saw Jenna almost in tears with her tongue stuck to the pole, she began to flip out. Once she assessed the situation, a member of the group was sent to get a bowl of hot water. after about five minutes of water pouring and tugging, Jennas tongue was removed. Unfortunately for Jenna a large chunk of the outer layer of her tongue was left stuck to the frozen pole. I have good reason to believe that Jenna will keep her tongue unattached to frozen metal objects for the rest of her life.

its a hard knock life

so i have come to a conclusion that it is hard to be a girl. This morning i woke up around 645 because i needed to shower and get ready for school. Since i have to go to work straight after musical practice today, i had to actually make an attempt to look nice today. I had to wear a little makeup to keep myself from looking completely dead, and on top of that i had to blow dry and straighten my hair, which takes about a century. What made me most irked tho was how when i took a ten minute break for breakfast, my little brother was able to shower and get ready. This is a very unfair advantage that men have over women.

I do not wish to be a boy, but sometimes it would just be nice to have life be a little bit easier. Us girls already have to deal with enough the way it is.

6 word summary

life is good. but its unfinished.

Lovin it.

I find love has filled my life. mostly friends and family. without support from these people, life would not be as enjoyable. As the years go by, i find myself growing closer to my family. Ive also noticed more imperfections in them, but i think that is part of the reason i love them even more. My little brothers are finally growing up. Its sad because we arent little kids anymore, but its nice because they are solid confidants that i can count on. My older cousin is also someone that i hold very dear to my heart. She should just be my sister. i know that she will be there thru thick and thin.

on a lighter note valentines day was good. I got a rose and some other cool stuff this year. also had a kid ask for my number at work. flattering, but i told him no. about the only down side was i had to hang out with mitchal and vicki. just kidding, it was fun!

a look in the mirror

Over my high school career i have gone thru a series of changes. At the beginning of my freshman year i was a timid teen who couldnt make an important decision to save my life. After about a year of being a follower i started to see things thru my own eyes rather than doing what pleased others. This was not the easiest time in my life because thruout this period i lost a good friend that i believed would always be there for me. Due to this loss i had to make new friends, which may have turned out to be the best thing in my high school career. I began to go out more often and i would speak my own opinions rather than those that had been forced down my throat. Instead of saying what people wanted to hear, i spoke of what i thought and people didnt hate me for it. Today i am much happier with myself and i hope that it continues to to be that way.

my hubbys blog

End Of Year Blog
December 31, 5:05pm GMT+5 by Andy Roddick
The new season is upon us!!! I am so pumped. The offseason was great and there was a lot of work done and fun had!
Some new tunesNew kings of Leon disc I, probably my favorite of the year….
Check out the new Killers album as well… they continue to be one of my favorites
New DMB album coming out this year…I normally don’t stop listening to it except while sleeping when this happens
Saw Michael Tolcher acoustic show also…. very talented and nice guy and has some new tunes coming out in the next couple months.. check him out on itunes
Ok so here is how I am gonna do it this year…. 24 blogs promised this year… sign, sealed, delivered…. am willing to take suggestions for what I have to do if I don’t meet the quota…. this one counts for the new year
I really hope everyone had a great holiday season…mine was perfect and I am thankful for the great friends that I have back home. It’s always so nice to be around them all on a regular basis during the offseason.
So I listen to a radio show called the Bobby Bones show every single morning when I am home… it’s on 96.7 fm in Austin and podcasts are available on itunes.. that’s what I do on the road ha ha…lame .. anyways, I was driving to track workouts early on in the off-season and the cast was talking about their annual name that tune tournament which is basically 2 teams of 3 hearing a track and seeing who the first to buzz in and name the song and artist…… Doug and I pretty much spend every car ride throughout the year playing our own version of this game … I needed to get into this tournament!!!! so I ran the idea by my buddy Huston Street who is a pitcher for the Colorado Rockies… coincidentally he had Bobby Bones’ cell number… so we basically called and begged our way into the tourney…….. my buddy Neal was our 3rd partner… ok so we get there and teams are practicing and have team names and uniforms and are talking about how they do these tourneys all the time…. we are clearly overmatched. I tell the guys I would be happy to win our first round only cause then Bones wouldn’t rip us apart and make fun of us on air the next morning for all of Austin to hear. We win our first round by a single point… its a 32 team tourney, and to make a long story short we ended up making the final pretty much shocking the entire crowd watching ( 300-400 people ha ha) anyways it was a blast and it shut lunchbox (loudmouth on the Bobby Bones show) up for at least a night….. oh and I was sure to call in the next morning and rub it in cause he lost first round….. trust me he deserves it ha ha ha… much love lunch!! Anyways, it was a blast and hopefully we can get in next year!!
Arrived in Abu Dhabi last night which was the 30th and woke up at about 5 in the morning cause of jetlag… nothing was open in the hotel, so I decided to go for an exploratory jog for about 30 minutes…. I was about 20 minutes in just running around the grounds of the Emirates Palace where we are staying… definitely one of the nicest places I have ever stayed…. anyways, about 20 minutes in and its foggy and dark outside… you can see light poles and that’s about it…. so I cruise up on these wooden tiki looking shacks… a little out of place for the resort… intrigued, I cruise down the side to see if they open up towards the front….. I cautiously walk around the corner and literally head bump a camel!!!! I jumped back like a girl (no offense to girls who take offense) and then figured out what it was staring at me and started laughing hysterically…. I guess it was a stable for the camels and you can ride them around the resort and stuff…. I sent Brooklyn a text that simply said “in just jogged into a camel” she proceeded to laugh and make fun of me…… good times
Alright so we will get back to the weekly awards on the next blog….
Have a safe and happy New Year

Although Andy Roddick can hit a mean first serve, i think he needs to work on his blogging skills. Maybe i put him up on a pedestool and expected something amazingly inciteful, but i ended up being quite disappointed. I read half way thru it and was basically falling asleep. He metions how he loves a couple of bands and then goes on a tangent about how he competed in a song contest. Boring!

i also think he needs to use the enter key every once and a while. When you combine a boring topic with a gianormous paragraph your eyes tend to get lost in the sea of neverending words.

Now i have to admit that bumping into a camel was somewhat interesting since it just doesnt happen on a daily basis. But then that was ruined for me when he mentioned his fiance brooklyn and how he texted her. I never got a text about a camel. Im a bit upset.

Maybe I could give Roddick lessons on blogging. Then he could realize his true love for me and we could get married and be the best mixed doubles partners in Nebraska.

stalker kids

so this weekend i met someone. but dont get excited. this isnt a good someone. this guy was a creeper. i didnt think that i had ever heard of him before, but unfortunately i had. earlier in the school year vicki had gone to food for less and had a weird kid who claimed to go to midland follow her out to her car. stupidly vicki gave him her phone number, but she soon realized she had made a mistake. she immediately stopped texting him after looking him up on the midland directory and realizing that he did not even attend.

Unfortunately for me, i was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. My friend alexa had just broken up with her boyfriend and i was being nice and bringing her ice cream. I was not the only person at her house though. She invited one of our friends, Tay Pat, who just so happened to work at Food For Less. he brought with him a so called friend. it was the stalker. he immediately took a liking for alexa, and would not stop texting and calling her. i felt bad for lex, but i was just glad i wasnt in her situation.

Now i wish this was the end of the story, but it continues on to the next night. Stupid Tay Pat was hanging out with us again, but he decided to call up the creeper and invite him along. The entire time he couldn't stop talking about alexa and finally to put the poor kid out of his misery i straight up told him that he was being wayy to forward and just needed to lay off. he was crushed, but it needed to be said. He had met her only a day ago. can you say Creeper? After i got home that night i thought that this was the end of the stalker. but no, he decided to change his mind and wouldnt stop attempting to call and text me (which btw i did not give him my number, stupid Tay Pat gave it to him without my permission) After giving succinct answers he still didnt get the hint. So since then i have not responded to the fifty million texts that he has sent.
Now i just hope that Tay Pat never invites him along ever again. I'm also going to avoid Food for Less and shop at HyVee instead, where the employees arent scary stalkers.

Tennis Trivia

After studying the athletic field of tennis for almost fourteen years, I think it is safe to say that I have more expertise in the field than most will experience in their entire lives. It started even before I was born. My parents met at a tennis tournament over twenty years ago, and before that my mother played high school and college tennis while my father played in the USTA. My older sister has also been involved in tennis and played at UNO in the 2 Doubles slot. So, needless to say, tennis runs in the family.

The game is fairly simple. You hit a small bouncy yellow ball inside the lines of a court without letting the ball bounce twice on your side. In order to start a point someone must serve a ball into the opposite side of the court from which they are standing. The point system may be the most difficult part of the game. To win normally you must win 2 out of 3 sets. In a set you must win 6 games and be ahead by two. In the games the scores goes love, 15, 30, 40, and game. If the players are both at 40 it is called deuce. During deuce one person has to win 2 consecutive points in order to win the game. If the server wins the first point it is called ad in and if he/she loses that point it is ad out. In the occurance of a set going to 6 all, a tiebreaker comes into effect. Tiebreakers normally go to seven points and you must win by two. Although this scoring system may sound complicated, it becomes much easier when you are playing.
